In order to welcome the convening of the Communist Party's 19th National Congress and the Fortune Global Forum held in Guangzhou, our museum specifically organized this exhibition to display paintings of China's past dynasties collected by the museum and works distinctive of style in the south of the Five Ridges. More than 100 dedicated masterpieces will be on display, including the most precious treasures of the museum which are rarely seen, and representatives works created by masters in the south of the Five Ridges. Considering the preservation of cultural relics, all the paintings will be exhibited in two periods. In the first period, there will be Four Heroine from the Yuan dynasty, and Bamboo by Li Kan. Audiences will appreciate works like Ink Bamboo by Wentong and Painting of Pigeon in Golden Vessel created in the Yuan dynasty in the second period.
Since its predecessor founded in 1957 and the Era of Art Gallery, our museum has been committed to collecting and researching painting and calligraphy treasures dating back to China's past dynasties and masterpieces from Guangdong. After sixty years of efforts, it has collected a huge number of precious works, ranging from those handed down from the Song dynasty, Yuan dynasty to China's modern and contemporary ages. Particularly, it has a complete collection of paintings created in the Ming, Qing dynasties and modern times. Painting and calligraphy in the south of the Five Ridges - especially those of the modern times - are the most characteristic masterpieces collected by our museum. We sincerely hope that our audience would not only learn more about the profound and extensive Chinese civilization with long history from this exhibition, but also enjoy the splendid and unique charms of the cultures in the south of the Five Ridges.
